Walk in another man's shoes and you walk a dangerous path.
John Nolan (Jeff Goldblum - Cats and Dogs) is a successful but unsatisfied businessman whose ordered and indulgent life is about to be shattered. He has stopped at his local bottle shop to pick up a specialty wine order but when he sees the label is damaged, Nolan asks for another bottle. It is a fatal request. While the assistant is looking for it in the storeroom, an armed robber holds up the shop. When the assistant returns, he is shot and later dies. Guilt ridden and feeling responsible, Nolan is driven to find out more about the assistant known as Auggie Rose. It becomes a bizarre obsession and as Nolan discovers more about the former criminal and loner, he is inextricably drawn in to Auggie's mysterious and dangerous life, and suddenly, assumes it.
